“So That’s How You Gon Treat Me?!”😢

1 Samuel 1: 4 – 5 : Baby Mama Blues…

“On the day when Elkanah sacrificed, he would give portions to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters; but to Hannah he gave a double portion, because he loved her, though the Lord had closed her womb.”

So…

You marry me…

You lie down with me…

You plant a seed in me…

I bare you child…

We go through this process repeatedly…

I carry your firstborn…

Yet…

You’re going to give the barren wife double?! 😡

So, I’m only good enough for you to lie down with?!

I’m only good for having babies?!

The same babies you don’t even mention anymore.

I am your wife!

I am the mother of your children!

But, you treat me like the side piece or baby mama?!

That’s how you gon treat me?!

Then you don’t even mention me anymore once your precious Hannah comes crying to you?!

It becomes all about her?!

Oh… and when she had her precious Samuel, me and my kids no longer mattered?!

My kids weren’t even worthy enough to be identified by name?!

This is how you gon do me?! 😢

What makes Hannah’s child better than mine?!

What makes her better?!

*sobbing*

So… this is what my life has amounted to…

A sister-wife baby mama with all these kids to feed who need love but no man to love me because it’s not like I can get married again or move on…

😔

Where is my love?!

  1. Lol! Why did this post tickle me?!?!? I am sure there is so much more to this story than what is recorded in the Bible….. ALL stories have an happy ending; however, happy and ending is subjective to the reader.

    1. You are correct. Happiness is subjective. The question is how do we help the Peninah’s find theirs? How do we help her heal, so she may feel and experience the joy of being a woman, maybe wife again, and mother? What is the church’s role and needed response?
